Spot by Buildup Bookings

Spot extension privacy

Updated September 17, 2026

Spot is a website review tool by Buildup Bookings. This policy describes the Spot Chrome extension and the review data it sends to the Spot service at spot.buildupbookings.com.

Information used for reviews

You provide a review link and your reviewer name. When you choose Start reviewing on a Spot invite page, that page can connect directly to the extension. Only Spot review pages can use this connection. The extension checks the invite, remembers your name for the browser session, and opens the reviewed website. You still activate the panel from Chrome’s toolbar. The link contains a credential that grants access to a specific review. The extension sends it only to Spot to validate access and retrieve or update that review. If you are signed into Spot, requests may use your existing Spot login cookie; the extension does not read or store the cookie value.

When you save an annotation, Spot receives your name, comment, the reviewed page URL, viewport size, the selected element's locator and a short text excerpt, and the pin's coordinates. Replies, their authors, and resolution changes are also stored with the review. These are shared with people who have access to that project or review link.

While review mode is active, the extension processes pointer position, element selection, and scrolling locally to highlight elements and position pins. It does not send a continuous click, scroll, or keystroke log. Saved page URLs identify the pages you annotate; the extension does not read Chrome's browsing-history database or monitor unrelated tabs. Do not include sensitive personal information in comments or selected page content unless it belongs in the review.

Storage and retention

The extension stores your current review link, name, and active tab bindings in trusted Chrome session storage. This temporary setup clears when Chrome restarts or when you choose Forget review. Closing a tab removes its active review binding. Forgetting a review does not delete comments already saved to Spot. Review records remain in the project until deleted by an authorized owner or through a deletion request.

Access and sharing

The annotation panel activates after you choose Start review on a tab matching the reviewed website. The extension sends review data to Spot over HTTPS. Hosting infrastructure processes this information to provide the service. Review-link credentials are not sent to the reviewed website.

The extension does not upload full-page captures or screenshots. It includes no advertising, analytics, or remote executable code. Review data is not sold, used for unrelated advertising, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending. Data is used and shared only to provide website reviews, support the service, or comply with applicable requirements.
